Crystallized branches

Or perhaps nature's rendition of pipe cleaners, the ones that kids twist and bend into colorful shapes. It has been a winter to remember with all the snowfall we've had, and while many are already wishing for warmer days ahead, I am hoping that it will continue to be cold at least until the end of the month! There's a saying in Italy, regarding the 29th, 30th, and 31st of January: If they are cold, springtime will be beautiful. If they are warm, spring will arrive late.

This gardening blog has been in publishing hibernation for over 3½ months but in keeping with the cycle of life, it felt natural to let it go to sleep. If a good night's snooze is any indication to the state of our well-being when we awake, no wonder nature needs her beauty rest!
