Crystallized branches

Or perhaps nature's rendition of pipe cleaners, the ones that kids twist and bend into colorful shapes. It has been a winter to remember with all the snowfall we've had, and while many are already wishing for warmer days ahead, I am hoping that it will continue to be cold at least until the end of the month! There's a saying in Italy, regarding the 29th, 30th, and 31st of January: If they are cold, springtime will be beautiful. If they are warm, spring will arrive late.

This gardening blog has been in publishing hibernation for over 3½ months but in keeping with the cycle of life, it felt natural to let it go to sleep. If a good night's snooze is any indication to the state of our well-being when we awake, no wonder nature needs her beauty rest!

Scintilla, great minds think alike? For some reason I had a strong feeling that I should post something on L'Orto after being dormant for so long, and look! You stop by shortly thereafter!!

Laura, found me out eh? The garden (when it's thriving), is my second best place to be.

ahhh, guess that means the spring will be lovely. I just dug out last year's chives and it's full of new sprouts! I'm no gardener, but I do keep a few herb pots.

Great minds do think alike (not that I am trying to squeeze myself into the crowd ;-) but when it comes to winter and hibernation, you couldn't have said it better. Or express it in a nicer way. At once, I feel less ashamed of my acute laziness and have stopped googling up Chronic Fatigue Syndrome symptoms. For now ;-) Heck, it's good to be back. Cheers!

Best kept secret... or maybe I am just unobservant. But here you have another glorious blog to read and I was clueless! Glad I found this! I can't wait for spring. All of my growing things will have to be in containers. But still. Green growing things. Fresh herbs for cooking. I can't wait!

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who is inclined to let a garden blog go to sleep (Viooltje I'm talking to you!). And for everyone else who has stopped by, all I can say is that it'll be a slow and gradual start. You see, it's not only the garden that needs to ease itself into production, but also my brain. For now I am content to watch in envy as Nicole reaps her very first tomatoes!
