The first mow of the season

Can you believe it? This is the first time where we eagerly looked forward to the grass getting tall enough to cut. Sure we wanted the tulips to bloom before Easter (won't happen this time), but there are far more important things concerning the garden. What a victorious moment when the clippings went straight into the compost bin; it's just a pity that the margherita flowers get mixed in too.

Average daytime temperature: 18°C / 64°F

That's the trouble with the first mow... sigh. I think of it as a special gift to the people doing the mowing that the early flowers in the turf is just for them.

Barbee - I like how the way you put that. Perhaps the next time I won't so terrible but the dandelions...them I give the boot!

Kat - and also weed-pulling! We are in the midst of great weather, and I'm spending so much time outside...big sigh...that I think I'll have to do all of my blogging stuff at night! The first tulips bloomed today!
